FALL IS FOR PLANTING (and native plants are best!)

The Native Plant Initiative (NPI) aims to take an active role in furthering the overarching purpose of the Land Trust, which is to promote the preservation of West Haven’s natural resources and open space, and to support a healthy ecosystem. To that end, NPI will add native plantings to West Haven’s public spaces, as well as educate residents on the value of using native plants in their home landscapes.

The first project of the NPI was to install a native plant garden at the West Haven Public Library along the Campbell Avenue fence. Volunteers also added native shrubs to the foundation line of the building.
