Students from the University of New Haven study West Haven shoreline.

The University of New Haven offers a bachelor’s degree in marine biology, a diverse field that provides needed scientific and technical information to a broad spectrum of government agencies, academic and research institutions, environmental and conservation organizations, industries, and companies. The program emphasizes hands-on learning, and all of the laboratory courses have a field component. Students have the opportunity to work on faculty research projects beginning in their freshman year at UNH, and all students are encouraged to undertake at least one internship before they graduate. UNH marine biology students may specialize in areas such as coastal resource management, marine biotechnology, marine pollution, aquaculture, marine organisms, and urban estuarine studies. All students are expected to complete a senior thesis in their area of specialty. – source www.newhaven.edu
