The Land Trust of West Haven is proud to present the winners of its inaugural Photo Contest. They were chosen by the public by “liking” one or more of the 24 photo submissions posted to the Land Trust’s FaceBook page. First place with 153 “likes” went to West Haven resident Kimberly Dalton for her photo of a butterfly on a flower taken at the Sandy Point Bird Sanctuary. She will receive a $100 VISA card.
Second place was awarded to West Haven resident Kimberly Nadal with 136 “likes” for her photo of the American flag at sunset at Bradley Point. She will receive a $75 VISA card. Third place went to Milford resident Kimberly Savoia with 89 “likes” for her photo of a rainbow at Oyster River beach. She will receive $50 VISA card.
“We invited the public to submit photos that feature nature and open spaces in West Haven to celebrate what we have and highlight its beauty and value,” said Marilyn Wilkes, Vice President of the Land Trust. “We are already looking forward to next year’s contest and hope to receive enough submissions to create a calendar that showcases the winning photos.”
Photos were submitted from June 1 to July 15 and voting on Face Book took place from September 1 to 17. It was free to participate and open to the public. Local amateur photographers and children were encouraged to enter.
