Eagle I n 1783 the bald eagle was chosen as the emblem of the United States of America to represent strength and freedom. The eagle was also the theme of the appreciation dinner, again as an emblem of strength and freedom but also to represent the tremendous duty we all have to stand strong and protect our earth. As a special way to thank Barry Hawkins for all that he has done, the Land Trust members presented him with a hand carved, guilded Environmental Eagle.
This custom designed, hand carved Environmental Eagle was conceptualized by the members of Land Trust West Inc. and crafted by West Haven carver, Dan Loisel . The words, Servo Nostrum Terra or protect our earth are written on the banner and describe our mission.
It was a pleasure having Barry and his wife, Lilyan, join us for this special dinner. Thank you both for all that you do for the Land Trust and our earth.
