Many organizations are taking action to protect our environment and require support to keep going. Here are some of the environmental groups at the local and national level that make change happen:

Local

Audubon Connecticut

Audubon Connecticut is a leader in bird conservation throughout the state. Along with their members, supporters, and partners, they work together for birds, nature, and people.

Connecticut Sea Grant

Connecticut Sea Grant works toward achieving healthy coastal and marine ecosystems and consequent public benefits by supporting integrated locally and nationally relevant research, outreach and education programs in partnership with stakeholders.

Save the Sound

Save the Sound leads environmental action in our region. They fight climate change, save endangered lands, protect the Sound and its rivers, and work with nature to restore ecosystems.

National

Environmental Defense Fund

The Environmental Defense Fund is perhaps the most wide-ranging organization on this list, working to provide solutions under the broad categories of climate change, oceans, wildlife and habitats, and health. The EDF works with other organizations, businesses, government, and communities to create incentives for positive environmental actions; help companies become better environmental stewards; influence policy; and keep tabs on emerging issues.

The Nature Conservancy

The Nature Conservancy protects ecologically important lands and waters around the world with the help of more than 500 staff scientists.

Natural Resources Defense Council

The Natural Resources Defense Council seeks to protect the basics—air, land, and water—and to defend endangered natural places, with an eye toward how these long-term decisions affect humans.

Trust For Public Land

The Trust for Public Land creates parks & protects land for people, ensuring healthy, livable communities for generations to come. Works to ensure that everyone has access to nature within a 10-minute walk from home.

National Wildlife Federation

The National Wildlife Federation is the United States’ largest private, nonprofit conservation education and advocacy organization, with over six million members and supporters, and 51 state and territorial affiliated organizations.

World Wide Fund for Nature

The World Wide Fund for Nature is an international non-governmental organization founded in 1961. Its mission is to conserve nature and reduce the most pressing threats to the diversity of life on Earth.

Wildlife Conservation Society

 The Wildlife Conservation Society saves wildlife and wild places worldwide through science, conservation action, education, and inspiring people to value nature.
