The Land Trust of West Haven invites our members, friends, and community to join us for our Annual Meeting. It’s an opportunity to learn about the Land Trust’s work, hear about our accomplishments over the past year, and find ways to get involved in protecting West Haven’s shoreline and natural spaces.

Thursday, October 29 at 6:30 p.m.
City Hall – Basement Room

We’re pleased to welcome Nicole Smith, Natural Resources Analyst for the Regional Water Authority (RWA), who will open our evening with a presentation on “Native Plants and How to Use Them in Your Garden.” Nicole is a Connecticut-licensed arborist. She assists the RWA’s Forestry Division with invasive species removal and helps to maintain its two pollinator gardens.

An avid gardener herself, Nicole encourages homeowners to incorporate native grasses, wildflowers, shrubs, and trees into their landscapes. Her presentation ties directly into the Land Trust’s work at Eco Park, where native plants play an important role in supporting pollinators and wildlife, improving habitat, and strengthening the health of our shoreline environment.

Come Learn What the Land Trust Has Been Doing!

Following Nicole’s presentation, we’ll share highlights from what has been an exciting and productive year for the Land Trust — including the development and opening of Eco Park and the launch of our Coastal Conversations educational series.

We’ll also give attendees an opportunity to ask questions, share ideas, and learn more about how they can become involved.

Not a Member Yet? We’d Love to Have You Join Us!

If you care about West Haven’s shoreline, open spaces, wildlife, native plants, and natural environment, we hope you’ll consider becoming a member of the Land Trust of West Haven.

Membership is just $20 a year, and your support helps make our conservation, stewardship, educational programs, and community outreach possible. Just as importantly, becoming a member gives you a voice in the future of the Land Trust and strengthens our ability to advocate for the protection of West Haven’s natural resources.

You do not need to be a member to attend the Annual Meeting. We welcome everyone in the community to come, meet us, learn more about our work, and consider becoming part of the Land Trust. Membership information will be available at the meeting.

During the business portion of the Annual Meeting, we will also hold our annual election of members to the Board of Directors. Voting is open to Land Trust members in good standing. If you haven’t yet paid your annual dues, please take a moment to renew your membership here.

Following the meeting, we’ll have refreshments and time for informal conversation with Land Trust members, Board members, and others in the community who share an interest in protecting West Haven’s natural environment.

Whether you’re a longtime member, a new member, or simply curious about the Land Trust, we hope you’ll join us on October 29. Bring a friend or neighbor, too!

Please RSVP to me at marilynwilkes@icloud.com by October 22 so we can plan for seating and refreshments.
